I can't believe the time has come. What a nice blessing and commissioning this past Sunday. Bless you all! To the new-goers: Enjoy! Your eyes will be wide open when you get back. Love, Kelly
Hello SUMC Mission team!!!!!
Well, by the time you've read this, congratulations, you're in San Jose!!
Let me say again what Kelly said, because she couldn't possibly be more right, to the new-goers, Enjoy, and your will be wide open.
When I first went, I went there expecting for us to help them, and we did, but, they helped us equally, or more. They showed us what life outside of the US is like in too many places, they fed us, they spent time with us, and they loved us, and we loved them in return.
Bo- This is a perfect time for you to go, you're old enough to more or less understand the American way of life, but you're young enough to not be 100% wrapped up in it like a lot of us are, this is a wonderful experience for you, and I'm thrilled that you are there!
Alisa- It's to my understanding that this year, you were, as always THE FEARLESS LEADER.... Congratulations dear, all of your hard work is about to pay off.
Gram- I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!! I'm really thrilled you went- I know that in your heart, this is what you need and want to do, you're an amazing woman, and I think everyone that knows you will agree. You've got more loved stored in your pinky finger than a lot of people from every walk of life, has in their pinky finger. I've been blessed to have you in my life, I'll never forget that. By the way, Vassau says he hello, and he just cant wait to meet you....I've been telling him stories..i.e. how you got the nickname, "Funky Sandy," he loved it!
To everyone else, I know you'll be giving The Church, Sewickley, Pittsburgh, Pa, and the nation a great name. It's people like you that make countries outside of the US happy to see an American walking around- I'm extremely proud of each and every one of you.
To those of you whom I didn't meet, if you're a new part of our church family, welcome. If you aren't a part of our congregation, you are, in our hearts, welcome to you, too.
I look forward to seeing you all in September, and I want a hug from each and every one of you, and I expect you all at the welcome home party I know my grandmother is planning- Don't try to keep it a secret, you! You have parties for everything, this is just another excuse (I know you all too well, grandmother)!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry I couldn't make it this year, and it's really quite sad for me see you all go but, the pride you have left with me knocks that sadness to the sidelines, and take over. As you all know, I'm on a "mission trip" of my own, but, I wish you all the greatest of success, and I promise, when I come home, myself and my unit will have done nothing that has instilled anything but a good name, and pride in this great nation.
Be well, take lots of pictures, and keep those hugs in a savings account, because, you're going to certainly be cashing them in when I get back!!!!!
Miss and love you ALL!
-Bill
hehe...I'm pretty sure my name can be translated into, "Ye, who is long winded!" :-)
I don't remember how long it took to get down there. Are they still on the plane? In the back of a pick-up truck going up a mountainside? Whatever you do - do not attempt to get out of the truck while it's on an incline! ;)
Blessings!
I was actually just trying to figure that out!! haha
I think the flight was 6-9 hours? So if I am right, if the plane took off at 6am like it was supposed to, they should be on their way up the mountain...(1 hour or 2 in the truck?)
And I do remember you trying to get out of the truck on the mountain...ohhhh boyyyy!!!!!
It's weird to me discussing all the details on a blog. My first thought is....operation security, we can't talk about this!
Then I realize....this isn't a military operation...at all...haha oh boy
